I hate it when I find coolness after I've thrown a party. Could I not have rocked the soccer party with these cupcake caps? I know, right?
Her site is down in preparation for their July unveiling; they sell eco-luxe baker's twine for gift wrapping, packaging, crafting & more! And guess who is sitting at her mailbox waiting for her limited edition sampler pack? Come on, with color names like Cappucino and Peapod?
Lemon Tree Paperie
An online stationery boutique, 'Classic Taste With Modern Style' and they aren't kidding. They carry some of my party heroes, like Hicks Paper Goods of Sara's Party Perfect
and Boatman Geller.
Acme Party Box
Two creative working moms who love throwing parties decided to create their own party brand that used eco-friendly products. Plus, it's a one-stop party shop, and who doesn't love convenience. How much do I heart their woodland party?
Lil Boo & Co
Her stuff is so cute, I'm squeaking. Her specialty, crayon molds, of just about anything. Cupcake toppers, which I'm so into right now. You name it, she probably has it.
With everything from clothing to jewelry to hip dad diaper bags, there is something for everyone. I like her 'Cooking With Kids' section, which promises recipes and goodies for...cooking with kids.
The Pink Monogram
Monogrammed clogs...and Oprah featured her in O Magazine. Need I say more?
Remember reader Adriana's Sweet One party? Well, she's at it again for her 7 year old, this time she was inspired by my Silly Socks Pajama Party. Since she doesn't have a blog to post up my new 'Crazy It Forward' button, here it is for all to see!And here are the fabulous party deets in her own words....
When I asked my girl what she wanted for her 7th birthday, she said a chihuahua and a sleepover party... there is no way I am adding a four legged friend to our family (at least not for now)... so I decided to let her have the sleepover with her closest friends and got them little chihuahuas for the girls to stuff.
I got the most adorable plush chihuahuas here a Fill A Friend. They have the best customer service and the package arrived promptly and everything is packed super nice... all party ready!! I also ordered from them little pjs for the doggies and they even sent a custom made shirt for the birthday girl's little pet chihuahua. So cute!
Since my girl's favorite color is blue, I stuck with blues and some yellow for the party to add a bit of contrast. I found the fabric on sale at Joann's and also got the little bags there, which were embellished with the fabric and some buttons I had at home. The bags also had some make up, nail polish and a small diary which I bought at 5Below.
The goodies were all made by me. The birthday girl wanted lemon cake which I covered in fondant. It turned out a bit funny because it was a recipe for 12 (since there were only 5 girls total and I didn't want too much waste), but I was determined to have a 2 tiered cake... so it looked a bit funny. I also made some cake balls and cake pops and for the first time tried to make decorated sugar cookies.
These were my favorite... I was pleased with the result for being a first time and also, I made them 2 weeks in advance so that helped a lot, and can you believe they still tasted soooo good?? I had blue and yellow M&Ms, coconut Hershey kisses (which come in blue wrappers) and some yellow jelly beans and gummy bears. They were in such sugar rush!!! (shame on me...:-))
My power went off at 3 p.m and the girls were to arrive at 5. It crossed my mind to cancel, but we still went on with the plan since Isa was so excited. Thank goodness it's summer so we have longer days... the girls were able to stuff their little dogs, but the plan to serve my girl's favorite dinner (dumplings), had to be changed, so we ordered pizza.
They were going to watch the movie Beverly Hills Chihuahua, but that had to wait until the next day when we had power back on. As a plan B, the girls played in the pool till almost 8 p.m. and roasted marshmallows in the fire pit. At 5:30 a.m., they were up and I was making breakfast for 5 hungry little girls at 6!! They watched the movie while breakfast was being made and had playtime and more pooltime until they were picked up close to noon. It was fun and I'm sure my girl will never forget it... Thanks for the ideas again, and for letting me steal them :-)
Love it, love it, love it! Thank you Adriana for letting me share such a fun and wonderful party, and showing us that even crazy party curve balls can be dealt with! That's my kind of planner, you always should have a backup plan for inclement weather, or heaven forbid, power failure.
If you have had some of my crazy rub off on you, send me an email with pix or links so I can send you a button and share with the world.
Our past two parties really nailed it home for me and inspired today's post. Each one of these scenarios happened, and I'm trying to prevent Angry Hostess from happening to you.
1. Please, please, please, please RSVP. Especially if it says RSVP. Especially if it has an RSVP date. Especially if they leave a phone number and an email. I don't care if it's movie night with the girls or a 3 day wedding extravaganza, you RSVP. That's your job, not the host/ess's to have to follow up because you were too busy. What do you think they are doing? Think of the effort to make and send you an invite...you can take 30 seconds out of your day to make contact. Can you believe some of our guests never RSVP'd at all?
2. If you do get a call/email, for pity's sake, a. respond back. I emailed a few friends who didn't email back. b. NEVER tell the host/ess you lost the invite. Say something like "Oh, I don't have it in front of me, refresh my memory on the time?" Think of the effort to make and send you an invite...PUT IT SOMEWHERE IMPORTANT! Can you believe some guests LOST our box soccer invite?
3. If you do RSVP and your plans change, please, please, please let your host/ess know ASAP. And I don't mean 10 minutes before the party. Yes, it happened. I know that kids get sick, you forgot your in-laws are coming in that day, etc. etc. Never let people prepare for you and you don't show up, then call the next day with some lame excuse. Yes, that happened too.
4. Never call right before a party asking for directions. There is nothing a host/ess loves more than rushing around trying to remember last minute stuff and has to stop and give you directions. That is why they invented Mapquest.
5. A good guest NEVER shows up 30 minutes early unless you are part of the work crew. There is nothing a host/ess loves more than rushing around trying to remember last minute stuff and feeling obligated to entertain you by engaging in a convo. Not cool.
6. If you are running late/get lost/ have an emergency, call the host/ess to inform. Please don’t keep the party waiting without any word from you. I had one of our guests call to let me know she was one her way but running a little late...good guest indeed!
7. Mingle, mingle, mingle. A good host/ess senses a lull and will swoop in. But if she has children clawing at her leg or her pot roast is on fire, she's a bit distracted. Don't be a wallflower.
8. ALWAYS offer to help. It's nice, and if you are like me, with 17 irons in the fire, you will need all the help you can get. Plus, it will be a paysie-backsie at your party. If she says no, go elsewhere. Don't hover. There is nothing a host/ess loves more than rushing around trying to remember stuff and feeling obligated to entertain you because you are hanging over her. Refer to #7.
9. Leave it the way you found it. If you didn't find your drink on the fireplace, don't leave it there. If you're done eating, throw your own trash away. Unless you are at some swank affair with waiters swooping in to take your empties. Doubtful, though. Let's just say I found a cupcake where a cupcake shouldn't be. I'm going to blame it on the kids.
10. A good guest knows when to leave. If the host/ess is blowing out candles and stacking chairs, you should have been gone 20 minutes ago. Unless you are part of the work crew.
We decided with our unpredictable Seattle weather to have the party in an indoor soccer field...remember the invite and thank you card? Go figure, the day was absolutely gorgeous!
With an hour of play and 45 minutes in the party room, there wasn't a lot of time to do crazy decorating, so I focused on the tables.
A special request from the birthday boy, Neapolitan cupcakes: chocolate cupcakes, strawberry and vanilla frosting with a gumball cherry.
Personalized water labels and silly straws for the drink 'station'...
More birthday boy favorites; mint Oreos and Crunch & Munch, Chex Mix and green M&Ms in paper cones from In Good Company via Kara's Party Ideas. I snapped these pictures just in time...a whirlwind of sweaty hungry kids descended upon it...
Our friends signed our World Cup replica ball....
Silver and gold soccer balls that I scored on at the Dollar Store (4 for a $1!!!) did double duty as place settings and a take-home favor. Can I say enough how much I love the Dollar Store? The gold trophy vases started off as ugly green plastic planters that I spray painted. Why yes, eagle eyes, the vase filler is dried split peas with Whirly Pops, color coordinated, of course. The birthday boy in a shiny new outfit. Can you believe they wanted $49.99 for a child's World Cup jersey? I couldn't do it...of course I would have to get the matching shorts for $39.99. $90 people for an outfit he will be out of before the new soccer season even starts. I don't own $40 shorts.
I love my kids, but really? Shame on you sports retailers...plus, the U.S. shirts were not even cool, just white. Couldn't it have been red and screamed U.S.A. across the front like a lot of countries? Then, maybe, I would have given it a second (although not happening) thought.
A fabulous day of fun had by all...and my sweetie is 9! Where does the time go?

Our teachers and staff work so hard and I love sending them goodies. Saw this super-cute idea over at eighteen25 for our classroom teachers, and couldn't wait to make them up. Gosh, those gals are chock-full of good ideas!
These cupcakes are for our specialty teachers (librarian, P.E., etc.), complete with their initials. I figured a real cherry would be runny, so I used gumballs instead.
More goodies for the hard-working ladies in our front office...thanks to Dimple Prints for her amazing downloads for the toppers and the card. I also used the cards for our teachers...what a load off! And how hooked am I on bakery boxes? I'm proud to say everyone thought they were store-bought because of the packaging and of course, the tasty lemon cupcakes that couldn't be from a cake mix.
The little one's birthday is the Fourth Of July, so we shared mini cupcakes and I made up these little containers filled with homemade playdough for his classmates. See the soccer ball? It's for the boy's soccer party, it's a World Cup match ball replica, and all of our friends will sign it as a 'guestbook'.
Vampires are (again) the new black with shows like True Blood (love it!), The Vampire Diaries (love it more!) and the latest, ABC's The Gates, a cross between the aforementioned and Desperate Housewives...eh.
