Real Party - Rockin' New Year's Eve Sneak Peek

It's New Year's Eve peeps! Wishing all of you a fabulous NYE where ever you are! We are heading to the children's museum as we do every year; they celebrate every hour with those countries who are welcoming in New Year's.

With no babysitter this year (I'm missing a fabulous Wig Party and my feelings are hurt beyond words!!!) means we are whooping it up at's a sneak peek into what I have in store...Can't find themed glasses? Rub-ons work fabulously...of course, since I've never done this, I'm assuming it will wash off? Scored mine from Michael's in their Dollar Spot and clearanced out; also found black chandelier ones which also tie in, but haven't figured out where/how to use them.

And yes, I'ma be wearing out my TableVogue cover, you'll probably see it in every party; I need to get my hands on a few more! It's the perfect starting point.

Blog Thank Yous/10 Hot Blog Stuff From 2010

2010 is drawing to a close; the kids are over the moon with their Christmas gifts, they got everything on their lists this year and I'm working on our New Year's Eve party, just for me and my menfolk.

And how does one end a fabulous year? This past Monday, not only was I Day 70 of The Purple Pug's 365 Days Of Creative Coolness Series, it was declared Math Genius Monday. I like that. Plus, she had some nice things to say...
Catch My Party also likes me a little, they made my Santa's Mustache Bash Party Of The Day, not too shabby, eh? I knew my crazy would pay off, Thank you so much ladies!!!!

Oh, and I won a few giveaways this past week and a hugungous one not too far between all of that, 2010 is ending quite nicely.

But it wouldn't be a round-up without a look back at what made Not Just A Mommy! have a good time. Technically, the shout-outs should be on my top 10, but then the list wouldn't be top 10, plus everything I ever did would be on the list. How did I pick this illustrious group? Some had high comment counts, some had my blood, sweat and tears in them, and some were just cool! So here they are, starting from the beginning of the year...
1. Felt Owls - not only did they have a ton of comments, but spawned many inspirations (monsters, turkeys, etc.) that lead to the creation of Crazy It Forward!

2. It's a tie between Chinesentine Playdate and Kiss Me, I'm Irish - My fave 'just because' parties

3. 2010 was the year of The Dessert Table...I did a nice post on tips on making your own fabulousness!

4. De Plane! De Plane! 2 year old party

5. Super Striker Soccer party and Kachow! Cars party thrown for my boys a week apart...clearly I was on something when I thought that would be a great idea.

6. Meeting Bakerella.

Corollary to #6 Being a Bakerella Pop Star.

7. Gumball flower tutorial...come on, you can't deny the cuteness!

8. Going to Seabrook WA, meeting fun gals and doing a spa party.

9. Back To School Bash, because they were going back to school!!!

Corollary to #9 - Being featured on Paper & Cake.

10. Cupcakes Take The Cake Birthday Bash and Cupcake Camp Seattle...a fest of cupcakes and stalkerness!

11. Santa's Mustache Bash of course!

OK, ya got me. Top 11.

Merry Christmas 2010

From our family to yours!!!!

Fiesta Friday (On A Thursday) - Fabulous Christmas Breakfasts

Today is my last full post for awhile, going to be in full swing for the holidays, so it's perfectly appropriate to share these amazing Christmas Breakfasts...I feel inspired because we never do a big breakfast thing...I can't get the kids to put down their new toys long enough to.
Christmas Breakfast tableRun, run, run just as fast as you can to the annual Lewis family breakfast at No Fuss Fabulous...let's see, what do I love more, the doughnut tower? Maybe the amazing labels she made? The no-cook spread of treats (that's my kind of party)? Nope, love them all equally!

Christmas Breakfast table 2A very clever Parisian twist on this classic tradition from Tobi Fairley...check out those customised chair covers and pillows from her own fabric collection.

Christmas Breakfast table 3A lovely collage of ideas from House Beautiful...mix and match to your heart's content...

Christmas Breakfast table 4Mad for plaid at Savvy Southern Style...

Christmas Breakfast table 5A pretty table from Simplified Bee...psst...the table runners are DISH TOWELS! Love it!

hot cocoa barAre you all up in the snow for Christmas? Perhaps a hot cocoa bar will be part of your festivities when everyone comes back inside...check out this one with adorable marshmallow dunkers and other sweet goodies from Wants And Wishes Design via The Hostess Blog.

hot cocoa bar 2I never get tired of looking at this spread from Garnish, maybe it's the little bottles of syrup or the beverage box. I'm such a sucker for containers.

marshmallow barOK, I'm digressing a bit because I came across this inspiration board for a marshmallow bar alongside a cocoa bar from Frosty Winter Weddings and had to include it.

Tuesday Tip/Trend - Unique Gift Containers

Still working on putting gifts together? Sometimes, the devil is in the details, a nice container can make even the simplest of gifts more special. Case in point, last week was all about teacher gifts...we have some amazing teachers and staff and we love to show how much we appreciate their hard work.
individual cupcake containerJumbo lemon cupcakes in a plastic container with a cute label from Toad's Treasures? Perfect in it's simplicity. I scored my 16 ounce containers at Dollar Tree but you can duplicate the look with similar ones from Garnish.
ornament in a clear acrylic boxI'm currently crushing on clear acrylic boxes; it's the inside that counts, so they don't need much embellishment. One of our teacher gifts was an ornament, nestled in paper shred in a 4" box. That's it!
Paper & Cake candy necklace favorLayered candy elements in a clear box with a label? Perfect treats for our young friends, thanks again Paper & Cake; I think I'm done talking about this now.
Loving this idea from BHG and can't wait to try it your gift in a votive holder, top with a paper muffin liner, and tie with a colorful string or ribbon!
Giving a bottle of wine? Check out Martha's 3 different ways of making it fabulous!
It's a gift within a gift...wrap your treasure in a lovely scarf like this BOBO wrapping scarf.

How cute would this be as a gift of milk and cookies or other treats for the neighbors?
Do you have a ton of paper cups laying around? No worries, it too can become a great gift holder. Check out this tutorial from Zakka Life.
The king of creative gift containers? Garnish has an endless supply of creative ways to make everything look like Martha herself put it together! Look at how fun it is to package something as easy as cookie dough, in a soup container with a cute label?

It's The Final Countdown - NYE 2010

I know, Christmas is in 5 days, that just means New Year's Eve is in 12! If you are getting ready for the New Year with a blow-out, here's a little inspiration to help you on your way!

New Year's Eve party ideasI am in love with this wedding spread featured at Elizabeth Anne Design. From the countdown wall as a photo booth to the elegant tabletops! And those holiday s'mores? Yes, please! Score your own clock plates from Pottery Barn.
New Year's Eve party ideas 2Speaking of PB, check out their NYE party planner that has everything you need to put together a classic affair, from invitations to an iTunes list.
New Year's Eve party ideas 3Mix up tradition with turquoise and pink with the printable set from Anders Ruff.
The lovely Love The Day has created free printables to help spread the word for Operation Shower! Big circles, small circles, tags, labels, tent cards, thank you tags, candy bar wrappers, you name it, it's there!
This holiday glam party from Celebrations At Home can translate for any party that needs a little fabulousity...sorry Ms. Kimora...but I think it is perfect for bringing in the New Year!

And if the table is a little too much for you, don't worry, she has a dessert table scaled down for smaller gatherings!
It was a showdown of the ages...the East Coast's Black And White NYE party vs. the West Coast's Our Gang's NYE party are both chockful of amazing ideas.
Need some outstanding headgear? Check out my party hat tutorial!

This black and white table from Pizzazzerie doesn't scream NYE right off the bat, but if you just take out the cute snowman, I bet it will!
Speaking of Pizzazzerie, I just had to add her latest fabness, fresh off the Hostess Blog, a sparkly "Midnight" dinner party. I love a party that has lots of recreatable elements and this one is no exception, from the poppers to the glitter letters. You know you've seen those letters, get you some!

I know, I said I wasn't adding more to this post I just had to sneak in this table from One Sweet Party! No need to commission your favorite baker, simple store-bought treats become elegant with a little pretty tag or two.
No need to run out and purchase new items; repurpose Christmas items like this table from Delish. Christmas ornaments, silver wrapping paper and tin cans from Christmas cooking will work perfectly!
The purple and red of Crate & Barrel's sweet holiday spread is perfect for a NYE bash, it just needs a little more glitz. Change out the ornaments for mirror and glitter balls, sprinkle purple acrylic diamonds everywhere and you're set.

The latest issue of Kiwi Magazine had a great idea for an edible countdown calendar! Fill small bowls with a special treat representing each month of the year...January - marshmallows, February - chocolate, March - green peas, April - carrots, etc.

Check out last year's post, Thanks For Your Time, that includes my all-time favorite NYE party favor, which coincidentally is my own!
