Random Acts Of Garnish Pt. 1

It's always nice to do something for someone, just because. It's even nicer if you can use cute containers and tags and other pretties. But it's nice to do something just because.

The lovelies that are Garnish want you to commit Random Acts Of Garnish. They'll send you a discount code to purchase some of their lovely products; they provide free tag downloads and all you have to do is put it all together and make someone's day. If you visit their blog, they've lots of fun ideas that would make anyone feel super special!

We've been snowed in and I couldn't get all my goodies out, but I couldn't wait to share what I've done so far. I took a Random Act over to my neighbor. She has two little girls and is on the countdown for her husband to return home from a deployment. I figured she needed something to coat her tummy with all the wine she's been drinking. Which is funny, because when I went over there, she WAS drinking!

Ever since I did these cupcake containers for Christmas I've been dying to do them again. This time I made jumbo lemon cupcakes...I cut one in half and added to Garnish's 16 ounce deli container...A swirl of whipped cream and sliced strawberries...Top off with the other half of the cupcake and pipe a generous dollop of cream cheese frosting.
A bit of baker's twine plus a wooden fork...
...equals one happy neighbor! Stay tuned for my next Random Act Of Garnish!

We Go Wednesday - Pier 1 Tasting Party

I avoid several places like the plague during the holidays, especially with the boys. One of those places is Pier 1. I know they aren't going to break anything but still... So when I finally made my way there, imagine my surprise when I saw this......their Tasting Party collection...insert happy party planner dance. I sure did snap a picture with my camera phone, all thinking I was going to break this fabness to you all.

Until I asked how hot is this new collection for spring and would probably carry through summer (party wheels turning), and she gave me the 'ugh' face. Apparently, I'm so 2000 and late, since it's been in stores since late October.

So how did I possibly miss this?
Plus, everyone apparently was blogging about it, but once again, lots going on during the holidays.

So, I would suggest if you haven't already, get yourself hence. Can you see the possibilities? Not too bad on the prices if you are building up your collection, and those white porcelain spoons you've been seeing everywhere, like this dessert table? .75 each; I sure did by 10 of them to get myself started.I also purchased the mini bowls set (the sets holding the sliced pickles/jalapeños and shrimp), which is 12 bowls and 12 appetizer spoons for $29.95. I know, trust me, I've been looking for this size bowl forevah, even IKEA didn't have them. Ramekins can do the trick, but I like clear so the pretty layers of your food show through.

Oh, did you spy the tall domed cupcake pedestal? Yup, I'm so glad they are popping up everywhere!

Unicorns, Rainbows and Ribbon

We are heading towards St. Patrick's Day and if you need a push in the rainbow direction, I've got just the inspiration for you!

Juicy Bits always has the most amazing home parties and this Unicorn And Rainbows Party is clearly no exception! So many amazing details...yarn balls! Rainbow mobile! Pretty treats! I'm absolutely in love! Visit her for a ton more of pictures from Evan Foster Photo and party details.

This soiree from Cake Ink was inspired by a ribbon garland and the rest is 'Rainbow & Ribbons' party history! I'm loving the cloud favor bags and drink bottle labels, it's part of her latest party collection available in her shop.

Check out the beautiful spread from Bird Crafts, showcasing her latest Rainbow collection, available in her Etsy shop. How cool is the tablecloth made from layers of crepe paper and plastic baubles filled with tissue?

The Hostess Blog has a fabulous spread and free printables to share!
How about channelling classic movie glamour with the CPN West Coast movie themed table at Little Shindigs?
Pottery Barn movie nightLast year I shared some great party ideas inspired by Pottery Barn's movie watching party....

...and Twig & Thistle's party has been graciously updated for this year!
Loving the great ideas over at Everyday Celebrating like these spraypainted Barbie doll centerpieces and foamcore clapboards.

Take a cue from the nominees for your menu and decor. Every year, Epicurious shares movie-inspired menus based on the Best Picture nominees; recipes include a proper English tea for The King's Speech and meatball sliders and brownie cupcakes for Toy Story 3.
Don't Bakerella's statuette cookies look like so much fun? She shares a great step-by-step tutorial that makes almost feel inspired to try to make them. Almost.
How about The Decorated Cookie's 'popcorn' cookies?

Decorate your tabletops with Twister and other classic toys (Toy Story 3), hang ballet slippers (Black Swan) and wrestling gloves (The Fighter) on the wall. Craft store giant Michael's has Eiffel Tower crafts and decor right now, perfect for Inception.

Step up your party game and have your guests decorate your party by having an Oscar costume party; sure Woody and Buzz are givens (yes, they make grown-up versions), but Western wear (True Grit), geek chic (The Social Network), suits and ties (Inception), hikers (127 Hours) and of course boxing shorts (The Fighter).
Food Network shares pretty and easy-to-make centerpieces and placesettings.
