Chronicles of a Foodie
This is a long post, but I promise it will be totally worth it because not only do you get to see pretty cupcakes, you can win some pretty for yourself near the end of the post. But pleasure before business. I received Bella Cupcake Couture's red cupcake wrappers
Not wanting it to scream 4th Of July with flags and stripes and such, I went for a more subtle with a nautical look, Starfish And Stripes. In fact, I'm creating an entire dinner table along the same lines, so stay tuned.
So introducing my contribution, red, white and blueberry cupcakes; strawberry and vanilla swirled frosting with a dollop of blueberry pie topping.
I made the paint chip banner a few years ago for another party and wouldn't you know, the red matched the cupcake liners perfectly. My hoarding always, eventually, pays off. All I did was dig out some of my nautical fare and my favorite chalkboard sign.
I make a simple flag topper with wooden candy sticks and a strip of washi tape. Someone needs to stage a washi tape intervention. I love them and I am seriously hoarding them. I'm surprised I didn't use a paper straw instead of the candy sticks. I need an intervention for that too.
Fun, right? And so easy...again, to my foodie friends that are visiting, no fancy recipes here. We are box mix/store bought folks around these parts. But don't get me wrong, we love our gourmet cupcakes and I know some places to score good, cheap ones that aren't made with cursed sugar/lard frosting. My boys have been cupcake connoisseurs since they could eat them.
But, I've noticed lately cake mix prices are going up! I could get them on sale for less than a dollar and now, even at my cheap places, they are almost $2. I may have to revisit this whole make-it-from-scratch movement.
Now, on to how you get to play along! This fabulous Prize Pack is worth over $300 and will make your next soiree fab-u-lous! It most likely won't make it to your for the 4th, but Memorial Day is coming up fast! And guess what? It's open worldwide!
Thanks to our amazing Prize Pack sponsors for their generous donations! Please, visit their websites to see more of their fabulous products!
