Gumball Pencil Necklace/Back To School Parties + Crafts

back to school gumball pencil necklace

I can't help but get in the back to school spirit around these parts with a gumball pencil necklace. I made a rainbow version for St. Patrick's Day so of course, I couldn't resist making another seasonal one. I don't know why, but I think they are the most clever...affordable...idea...ever!

You could also make it with a string of red gumballs and one green one for an apple or alternate yellow and black ones for a school bus. Oh, if you do, please send me a picture!

Back To School Crafting With Duck Tape®

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walmart. All opinions are 100% mine.

We are big fans of  Duck Tape® around these parts and I'm so excited about all the different patterns and colors it comes in.  Sure, it's awesome crafty goodness but I bet you never thought of using it for back to school crafting.  If you are like me (read: cheap), I abhor buying supplies like folders and binders with fancy characters on them.  You know they cost twice as much and will get destroyed the same way.

Duck Tape in graffiti pattern

Instead, cover them with Duck Tape®! If you buy Duck Tape at Walmart, a 10 yard patterned roll is less than $6.  That's 30 feet of possibilities. Make book covers, cover binders, personalize pencils, trick out lunchboxes, if it doesn't move, cover it in tape. Plus, it will reinforce the items and they will stand up better with wear and tear.

Need more inspiration? My oldest is in art class and needs a sketchbook and pencil case...so we picked up a roll and turned his old boring supplies from this...

...to this!

Joint Birthday Party Ideas

My boys are 3 years apart and their birthdays are a week apart.  Not only do I have the pleasure of summer birthdays (June 27 and July 4) that must happen before friends flee for the summer, but trying to juggle two parties as they got older is so not cool. When they were younger, joint parties were so easy. The little one didn't care.  Now...that's a different story.

If you find yourself in the same predicament with kids of different ages and gender or multiples, don't sweat it! A joint birthday party is easy if you remember these 4 tips...

1. Make sure everyone your older child(ren) is on board for a joint party.  Older kids aren't fans of their little brother/sister's friends wrecking their flow so make up for this by having one on one time at a later time. The

Fiesta Friday - 6 Cool Popsicle Stick Party Crafts

This post was created in connection with my appointment as an Ambassador in the Popsicle® Blogger Program. Visit www.facebook.com/popsicle to join in on the conversation.

As a Popsicle® Blog Ambassador, I've been doing research into the fascinating world of popsicle stick crafts so you can do things with all those popsicle sticks you have laying around.  Who knew there was a fascinating world of crafts made with popsicle sticks?

Sure, there are all the kid ones like the classic Ojo De Dios, but so far, I found a few gems for entertaining during the 4th Of July. This time around, I found even more ingenious party crafts that would make awesome additions at any soiree.

Glue them to the wall for a cool honeycomb backdrop from My Musings. Isn't it inspired awesomeness?  You can take it to the next level and mat a few of the honeycomb cells with pretty paper to make the design really pop.

We Go Wednesday - Barbie® Is Moving Tour

Barbie Is Moving Tour

Sorry, I'm a little late on the ball, but since I don't have little girls, so this wasn't on my radar sooner. For those of us on the West Coast, the Barbie® Is Moving Tour is coming our way.

For those of us in the Seattle area, the tour is hitting the Toys "R" Us in Tacoma on Friday, Southcenter Mall on Sunday, then south to California and Arizona.

If you have little girls in your life, there will be all kinds of activities to do from designing fab Barbie® fashions, building with Mega Bloks® Barbie® (who knew?!?), goodie bags and more!

Barbie Is Moving Tour grown-up outfits

And of course, we have to flashback to last year's C'mon Barbie, Let's Go Party post. I am still in love with these outfits I put together.

Fiesta Friday/Real Party - Pop-Up Popsicle Party

Pop Up Popsicle Party chalk art

As you know, it's my Summer Of Popsicle® as a one of their blog ambassadors and one of my grueling tasks was hosting a  Pop-Up Popsicle Party.  I know, me...hosting a party.  The goal, to show how Popsicle® helps make parties more fun.

Eating popsicles is an instant party in our house and apparently, since we are so well-stocked, we are providing them for half the neighborhood kids.  It's like a revolving door whenever they go out to play, "Mom, I'm having a popsicle, can I bring one for so-and-so?"

But I digress.  The weather was perfect, the friends were ready...and I present our party!
