Tuesday Trend - Craft Beer Tasting Parties

I don't drink beer. But when I do...sorry drifted into a Dos Equis commercial.  I love that old guy! Anyways, really I don't drink beer but I do love looking at cleverly named and crafted bottles, which means I'm probably looking at a craft beer.  They are taking the drinking world by storm and living here in the Seattle area, we are surrounded by many local breweries.

Fresh pretzels and beer sounds like the perfect way to spend a crisp fall evening, so today's Tuesday Trend is to inspire you to host your own craft beer tasting party.

Real Party/Fiesta Friday - Pumpkin Patch Tailgating Party With Chinet

Chinet sent me product and a stipend for the food and decor in this post. This review is based strictly on my opinion. Others may have a different opinion or experience with the products listed. I was provided the samples free of charge by the company or PR agency and I provided my honest opinion. No other type of compensation was received for this review.

Tailgating at the pumpkin patch

I was thrilled to be invited to take part in Chinet's Lost Art Of Getting Together campaign. Their goal is to encourage fun ways to bring family and friends together and rediscover this "lost art art of getting together." Here in the Pacific Northwest, we have the extreme pleasure of living near amazing farms and when fall arrives, the pumpkins are in full glory and corn mazes are begging to be walked through. Thus, the idea for our Pumpkin Patch Tailgating Party was born.  After all, who says you can only tailgate for football?

If you missed it, take a peek back at the invite; getting friends and family together on a gorgeous day for picking pumpkins, running through the corn maze, fresh kettle corn, meeting new 2- and 4-legged friends and topping it off with sweets and treats? It was a done deal.

Although we didn't send out paper invites, I still created one with my cute truck stamp from Paper Source. Along with my roadway washi tape (also from Paper Source) and a few mini punches, you've got the makings of a fun invite that begs friends to come out for the fun.

Be sure to come back Friday for the full party reveal...you'll be wanting to tailgate at your pumpkin patch too!

It's Halloweek! Brains...BRAINS!

It wouldn't be Halloweek without a few zombies! I'm having a flashback to last year's zombie party ideas because I am once again waiting for the premiere of the phenomenon that is The Walking Dead.  Man, last season was truly cray-cray and the suspense is killing me! Will Rick be happy not being in charge? Where is The Governor hiding after gunning down some of his followers? Is Michonne going to have to cut a bi*&%?

Since then, movies like World War Z and Warm Bodies (should I even mention R.I.P.D?) have piggy-backed in and I don't blame them. Zombies are here to stay.

Of course I had to share last year's zombie party table...it is still one of my favorite set ups!

It's Halloweek: Witch Crafts

As a kid, the first time I saw Samantha twitch her nose on Bewitched, I have always wanted magical powers.  Who wouldn't? Making things happen with an incantation or a  wave of the hand is the most awesome thing ever.

In fact, witches have been making a serious comeback over the years, from smash Broadway plays like Wicked to kicking monster booty on shows from Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Charmed  to The Vampire Diaries. This fall, they are ruling on TVD's spin-off The Originals and the latest witch dramas, American Horror Story: Coven and The Witches Of East End (which I just watched Sunday and love!). So of course, today's Halloweek post is all witch crafts.

Tuesday Tutorial - Carousel Cake Topper

This post was created in connection with my appointment as an Ambassador in the Popsicle® Blogger Program. Visit www.facebook.com/popsicle to join in on the conversation.

DIY carousel cake topper with cupcake toppers

Yesterday I shared my carousel cake topper, born from my popsicle stick carousel craft fail,  and today's Tuesday Tutorial, I'm sharing how I made it.

I found this great flower shaped paper at Michaels and scored it across the petal bases and diagonally across the petal slits.

Cut across a petal slit to the center then fold the paper along the scored lines.

Overlap the slit petal and tape it down to form the five sided top of the carousel.

That's it! Cut a small hole at the top of the carousel and put the rock candy stick through (like an umbrella) and set inside the paper straw. Embellish popsicle sticks with washi tape and glue on the stickers.

Add to your cake and/or cupcakes.  I know...it's sooooo hard!
